Gentex Sph-5 Cobra Helmet Decal

This is a promotional decal distributed by Gentex in the 1980s. It promotes their "new" lightweight pilot helmet the Sph-5. This helmet is a lighter version of their SPH-4 helmet which became the standard helicopter helmet in the late 1960s. The SPH-5 was developed after Cobra helicopter pilots complained about neck strain when flying the faster Cobra helicopter. By lightening the helmet using light weight materials, fatigue to the the pilots was reduced. Gentex also took this opportunity to improve the fitting system, communications and other features of the helmet..This decal was given out to prospective buyers of the helmet. As a distributor, I received a stack of these. I have about 10 left....almost 4" in diameter decal, stick on type ( no guarantee the sticky works) but unused .These got wet so the paper backing shriveled away but the plastic decal front is still OK..
