Ceramabond 552 Alumina Adhesive, 5-Gallon
High temperature one-part alumina-based ceramic adhesive for bonding and sealing low CTE metals up to 3000°F (1650°C). Typical applications for Ceramabond 552 include bonding ceramic gaskets in wood stoves, electrically insulating sensors, high power resistors, gas igniters, and impellors and degassers used in molten metal processing.
The product must be air set for 1-4 hours and after that step cured at 200°F (93°C), 500°F (260°C) for 2 hours at each temperature, it is resistant to most acids, solvents, fuels and molten metals. Applied in a thin coat using a brush, spatula or dispenser. The clearance between mating parts at operating temperature should be 2-8 mils (50-200 microns). Additional properties include a dielectric strength of 173 volts/mil, torque strength of 52 ft-lbs, and coefficient of thermal expansion of 4.3 in/in/°F.
Blistering may occur if the glue line is too thick or heating too rapid.
