A Kings Ransom, The Fall of Graceland

€œA King€s Ransom-The Fall of Graceland€
This is a fictional novel that contains both factual facts and fiction. Although story is all fictional, many dates, names and times are factual. The basic premise of story line is the kidnapping and ransom of the body of Elvis Presley. The purpose of the crime is not fame, glory or money but rather the destruction of Elvis Presley Enterprises and Graceland Corporation and its subsidiaries. The case itself spans a time frame of over thirty years. The main character is Detective Lee Simms who spends most of his life trying to solve this case. William Goodlett, who claims to talk to Elvis from beyond the grave and is instructed to carry out this crime in order to save the King from eternal damnation. What bothers him and the spirit of Elvis the most is what has happened to this man since his death. The exploitation of the King of Rock and Roll has gotten way out of control. The revenues from visiting his gravesite, touring his life long home and his image exceed many times what this entertainer ever generated while he was alive. How EPE has used his death, fame, charisma, and popularity to make the almighty dollar sickens the villain. Most of the story takes place in the future but the past and present are visited often. The story takes us through the investigation of the crime, the crime itself and how it was carried out and through to the conclusion, some thirty years later of how this case was solved.
The story ends with Graceland being reopened as a public park, free for all to enjoy. The body of Elvis is found but discovered that he never really left home. Detective Simms has solved the case, after thirty years of pursuing this man and has put it to bed.

€œBut as we all know now, this piece of property would once again become a resting-place for someone who is loved so dearly. It seems very ironic that at one time, one person could visit the gravesite of thousands, and then later, thousands would visit the gravesite of the one.€ A Kings Ransom-The Fall of Graceland.
